A Tribute to Christianity Today & Today’s Christian Woman

In a #bittersweet farewell of sorts, I’m writing to say my time as online editor of Today’s Christian Woman  has officially come to an end. I wrapped up 18 months at Christianity Today Friday to take a new job — as Editor of Wheaton Magazine (ATTENTION all Wheaton students, alumni, and friends: got any story ideas or want to subscribe? Email editor@wheaton.edu :)).

And what an incredible 18 months it’s been! After graduating from Wheaton in 2011, I received my masters degree at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism before heading to CT, where I was able to compose two long-form investigative journalism pieces for CT’s print magazine (“The Hope Dealers of Honduras,” September 2013, and “Hope for the Gay Undergrad,” January 2013), met and interviewed recording and worship artists Chris Tomlin, Kim Walker-Smith of Jesus Culture, David Crowder, Mandisa, Mac Powell of Third Day, Sara Groves, and Amy Grant, and learned more than I ever thought possible about living life as a Christian woman in the world today.

I reported from the Passion 2013 conference in Atlanta, Georgia, writers’ conferences in Colorado, Philadelphia, and New York City, and a number of concerts and events that helped make me into the woman I am today. I’ve been encouraged, equipped, and inspired by CT & Today’s Christian Woman – both by managing and producing their editorial content, and by the energy and initiative of the employees there. The development of TCW’s weekly online and iPad issues has been amazing from both design and editorial perspectives, and our social media campaigns (on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest) were crucial to our success (as I once heard preached from the pulpit at Willow Creek Community Church: “The Holy Spirit is Jesus gone viral.” Since then, I’ve been passionate about effectively utilizing social media to spread the gospel…as the #hashtag video above testifies to my investment in the Twitterverse (#hastagsareunderrated :)).

Today, I’m starting my new job on Wheaton College’s campus as Editor of Wheaton Magazine, and I will also continue to serve as Wheaton’s journalism certificate program assistant alongside certificate director Professor Tim Morgan, senior editor of global journalism at Christianity Today (stay tuned for A-quality work from our student journalists)!

The Today’s Christian Woman team – I’m going to miss everyone terribly!

Even though I’m leaving Christianity Today’s offices, I will always be Today’s Christian Woman – and am incredibly thankful for the editors, writers, friends, family, and mentors who have encouraged me in my journey to where I am today. Onward and upward, Christian media – #forChristandHisKingdom!
